History
The cryptography group's foundation started in the late 1990s when Ahto Buldas, Peeter Laud, Helger Lipmaa, and Jan Willemson (none of whom worked at the university full time) started teaching cryptographic courses. The actual group started around 2011-2012 when Helger Lipmaa and Dominique Unruh were hired full-time. In 2012-2019, we had two different groups, headed by Lipmaa and Unruh. Currently, we have one larger group (zero knowledge) and some cryptographers who are doing other subfields of cryptography.
